The role of anesthesia in supporting the patient's overall recovery

MIRI, Oct. 17: Anesthesia services play an important role in ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process, including pre- and post-procedure care aspects to support more comprehensive recovery.

Miri Hospital Director, Dr. Jack Wong Siew Yu said the role reflects the importance of anesthesia services that are not only focused on managing patients during surgery, but cover their entire treatment journey.

"Although often working behind the scenes, the contribution of anesthesia teams is critical to ensuring patient safety and smooth hospital services", he said in a statement today.

The 'Before, During and Beyond Surgery' themed presentation also highlighted the importance of patient care in its entirety, covering the pre, during and post-operative stages.

"The role of anesthesia is not only to keep the patient safe during surgery, but also to include comprehensive care before, during and after surgical procedures", he said.

He also appreciated the people of the Department of Anesthesiology and Rapi Treatment for their dedication and continued commitment in providing quality services to patients.

The reception was also a platform to raise public awareness about the role of anesthesia teams in ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process, as well as strengthening cooperation among healthcare citizens. - TVS
