KUCHING, Oct 21: The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund’s approval as an Associate Member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) serves as major recognition for the Fund on the international stage.
Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the milestone reflects the Fund’s adherence to global best practices, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainability in managing Sarawak’s wealth.
SSWFF was approved as an Associate Member of the IFSWF in September 2025.
“This reflects our determination to steadily growth the Fund for long-term savings and sustainable financial support for future generations,” said Uggah during his ministerial winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly today.
Uggah, who is also Deputy Premier, shared that SSWFF’s Assets Under Management (AUM) is expected to reach RM9.05 billion by the end of 2026, reflecting Sarawak’s determination to steadily grow the Fund for long-term savings and sustainable financial support for future generations.
“With this year’s allocation of RM300 million, total appropriation to the Fund will reach RM8.6 billion since its establishment in 2024,” said Uggah.
The Bukit Saban assemblyman noted that in the Fund’s formative years of portfolio construction, it has pursued capital preservation as a key objective while progressively expanding into Board-approved asset classes.
“SSWFF is a long-term intergenerational savings fund. It exists to diversify the State investment resources, and turn part of today’s revenue into lasting wealth for our future generations, and therefore, its progress should be measured over decades, not quarters,” he said. – DayakDaily
