KUCHING, 21 Oct: The Sarawak Government will continue the implementation of Autonomous Transit Flow (ART) project, new Kuching International Airport and Inner Kuching Sea Port until 2030, despite calls for the project to be halted.

Sarawak Prime Minister, Datuk Tinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the development of the facility is essential to enhance Kuching's position as an international city.

Clearly, among other things, it meets the needs of a modern, livable and sustainable city.

He agreed with the view of the Members of the Sentosa State Legislative Assembly that any attempt to cancel the project is a backward policy, besides viewing the action as not far-sighted.

"I would like to assure this honourable House that the GPS government under my leadership will continue to move forward with the implementation of these projects until 2030", he said.

He said this during his inaugural address at the Sarawak DUN Conference here on Wednesday.

Brother Johari said public facilities in Kuching should be continuously upgraded as the aspiration to make the city international, modern and sustainable. - TVS
