KUCHING, Oct 21: Contracts for the 88.3-kilometre Limbang and Lawas sections of the Trans Borneo Highway (LTB) are expected to be awarded by the end of this year, while the contract for the 4.95-kilometre Miri section was awarded in September.
Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the contract for the Miri section was awarded on Sept 18, with site possession granted on Oct 2.
“Implementation of both phases of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR), involving RM8.17 billion, is progressing alongside approximately 93 kilometres of road upgrading works under the Trans Borneo Highway,” he said when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.
Uggah said these projects would strengthen connectivity in northern Sarawak by providing alternative road connections between Sarawak and Sabah without passing through Brunei Darussalam. — DayakDaily
