KUCHING: A mother of three here is earning RM4,000 to RM6,000 monthly driving for Maxim several hours a day, the e-hailing company said in a statement today.
The driver, identified only as Anna, turned to e-hailing after losing her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, as she wanted to help her husband with household expenses, including a housing loan and the children’s education.
“After losing my job, I knew I needed to find another source of income. With three children and so many household commitments, I wanted to help my husband manage our family expenses,” she said in the statement.
Anna starts her day after sending one of her children to school and spends several hours on the road accepting passenger orders.
“By earning my own income, I can help my husband cover more of these expenses so that we can manage our family budget better and make sure our children have what they need for their studies and future,” she said.
She added that she did not want the financial burden to fall on her husband alone.
“Our children’s education is especially important to us, and I want to do my part to make sure we can provide for them. Every amount I earn makes a difference to our family,” she said.
Maxim said Anna’s experience shows how e-hailing can offer an alternative income to people from different backgrounds, including parents seeking to support their families after losing their jobs.
For Anna, driving has become a way to rebuild her income after an unexpected setback, while sharing the responsibility of raising the children with her husband.
