SIBURAN, 19 Oct: Ajak by Sarabif showcase is seen as potentially expanding local product selection through the introduction of premium meats that are easily available at more affordable prices.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain, Chairman of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), said the introduction of the product opened an opportunity for SEDC to expand Sarabif's product range, besides offering quality beef at a more affordable price.
"When this concept was introduced to SEDC, I saw it as something that we justifiably support because it gives us the opportunity to develop Sarabif by offering more products and even better products to customers.
"Our role is to supply beef at reasonable prices to the cooperative, as well as provide space and facilities for production to take place in the Siburan facility next to Sarabif", he said during a press conference after finalising Ajak by Sarabif Tunok here today.

Meanwhile, HMN Group of Companies Chairman, Abg Zainalabidin Abg Abu Bakar said that the development of Tunok Ajak started through a joint product testing process with SEDC and PPES Ternak about 10 months ago.
"It all started with product testing. We introduced this product to SEDC and PPES Ternak and found it something new in the market as well as potentially getting a warm welcome", he said.
According to him, the pre-cooked premium meat products are expected to be on the market in the next few weeks, while at present it can be enjoyed at Sarabif restaurant in Matang.
Celebrity chef Imelda Harris, who is involved in the research and development (R&D) of the product, said that the development of Ajak's Tunok emphasizes maintaining nutritional value without neglecting flavor.
"Today, everything is based on science including food. We want to maintain the nutrition of the product without neglecting its flavor but not compromise on its taste.
"So, all the technical aspects are handled by HMN JS Venture Director Nur Saheran Abdul Hamid while I help in terms of taste and recipes. However, the most important thing we want to preserve is the nutritional value of these products", he said.
