Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said China remained the largest contributor, accounting for 118 approved applications or 41.1 per cent of the total.

“This was followed by the United States (28), Taiwan (19), the United Kingdom (18), Australia (13), Canada (13), Singapore (12), Japan (12), Hong Kong (9) and South Korea (7),” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech on Tuesday (Oct 20).

Abdul Karim said the approved applications generated RM143.5 million in fixed deposits (FD) and RM1.49 million in processing fees.

In comparison, he said the programme recorded RM146.9 million in fixed deposits and RM1.04 million in processing fees throughout 2025.

He added that the ministry remains committed to strengthening its international promotional efforts, including participation in the Seoul Travel International Fair (STIF) and World Tourism Industry Conference (WTIC) in South Korea from June 4 to 6 this year.

“In conjunction with the event, my deputy Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew received the STIF Eminent Tourism Pioneers Award for his outstanding contribution to global tourism development and promotion,” he said.
