SIBU: Wesley Methodist Church is set to undergo a RM200,000 roof replacement project to resolve persistent water leakage problems caused by its existing flat roof.
The allocation comes from the balance of this year’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds under the Pelawan Service Centre.
Pelawan incumbent Datuk Michael Tiang, who inspected the church today (Oct 27), said the project would primarily address waterproofing issues that have affected the building.
“This project for Wesley Methodist Church is mainly for waterproofing, as you can see the water leakage problem because they have a flat roof.
“They want to solve this once and for all by replacing the roof. So I believe once this is done, they will not have this problem anymore,” Tiang told reporters during the site visit.
Tiang also visited the recreational park at Lorong Cherry 10, where he approved an allocation of RM200,000 for Phase Two of upgrading works.
He also approved two other projects in the area.
These comprise RM83,520 for Phase Three of the construction of a 150-metre road at Lane 5, Jalan Kwong Ann, as well as RM300,000 for the upgrading of a recreational park at Lorong 5, Kwong Ann.
