The 13th Sarawak state assembly retains 82 DUN seats

KUCHING, 27 Oct: The 13th Sarawak State General Election (PRU) will involve 82 seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), while 17 additional seats approved on 7 July 2025 cannot be used in this election.

DUN Sarawak Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said that the 17 additional seats could not be used due to time constraints for implementing related processes before elections are held.

He confirmed the upcoming state election using 82 seats.

"This general election involves only 82 seats. Unfortunately, the 17 seats approved by the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on 7 July 2025 cannot be used because they have not been implemented", he said at a press conference in DUN Sarawak today.

In this regard, the 17 additional seats will not be contested in the 13th Sarawak State PRU, keeping the total number of seats involved at 82. - TVS
