KUCHING: Sarawak Media Group (SMG) and Russian media organisations are exploring potential collaboration in broadcasting, content exchange and cultural programming.
The matter was discussed during a courtesy visit by Russian Ambassador to Malaysia Naiyl M. Latypov to SMG’s office here today.
Latypov was accompanied by Russian Embassy counsellor Aleksei A. Salnikov and received by SMG chief executive officer Kushairi Abang.
During the visit, Kushairi introduced TVS through a corporate presentation outlining its broadcasting operations, digital presence and role in promoting Sarawak’s stories, culture, heritage and potential to wider audiences.
He said the discussions focused on possible cooperation between TVS and Russian media organisations, particularly through content sharing and joint promotional efforts.
“Our discussions focused on potential collaboration between TVS and Russian media organisations, particularly through content exchange and joint efforts to promote both countries.
“We see opportunities to share news and content featuring Sarawak, Malaysia, Russia and the wider ASEAN region, allowing audiences to gain a broader understanding of our respective cultures and perspectives.”
The discussions also covered possible cultural exchange and creative content collaboration, including programmes that could highlight the cultural heritage of both Malaysia and Russia through television and digital platforms.
SMG said TVS also shared its experience in international media engagement and content exchange as part of efforts to expand its programming and audience reach.
The broadcaster added that the visit gave both sides a platform to identify areas of mutual interest in media and broadcasting.
As a Sarawak-based free-to-air broadcaster with nationwide reach and a growing digital presence, TVS said it would continue exploring opportunities for international media cooperation while promoting Sarawak’s identity, creative talent and cultural heritage.
SMG said the courtesy visit marked a step toward further dialogue on practical cooperation between media organisations in Sarawak and Russia.
