KUCHING, 27 Oct: Sarawak Brigade General Movement Force (PGA) conducts In-Service Training (LDP) on Satellite Telephone Use to improve communication skills and operational readiness of members.

The exercise involved senior officers and members of the battalion under the umbrella of Sarawak Brigade as well as members of the Kuching Intercontinental Police Headquarters (IPK) today.

The focus of the training was on operating Thuraya XT-Lite satellite phones as an alternative communication medium, particularly in rural areas and locations with limited telecommunication coverage.

The briefing was delivered by Electronic Technology Manager Sdn. Bhd, Shamsul Majidi Ibrahim with Sofian Saad.

According to the PGA's Sarawak Briged statement, participants were given exposure about the functionality, usage methods and operation of the device to ensure that the facility can be used according to operational requirements.

"The use of satellite telephony is essential to support the communication of members while serving in remote areas, especially in Sarawak which have geographical challenges and access to infrastructure.

"The participation of the Kuching IPK members also provides an opportunity to share technical knowledge amongst Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) citizens", the statement said.

The training reflects the ongoing efforts of PGA Sarawak to improve member competence and ensure communication readiness in the face of current operational needs.
