PRU Sarawak 13: SPR holds a special meeting this November 6

KUCHING, 27 Oct: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a Special Meeting to be chaired by the SPR Chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun on 6 November to discuss the conduct of the 13th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) General Elections.

SPR Secretary, Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus announced that a special meeting to be held in Kuching will follow the official announcement regarding dissolving the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) which came into force yesterday.

"The SPR has officially received notification from the Speaker of DUN Sarawak, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar by letter dated 27 October 2026 regarding dissolution of the 19th DUN as stipulated under Article 21 (2) of the Constitution of the State of Sarawak coming into force on 26 October 2026.

"Under Article 21 (4) of the Sarawak State Constitution, elections shall be held within 60 days from the date of dissolution", it said in a statement today.

Among the main topics to be discussed are determination of important dates of 13th PRU DUN Sarawak such as Election Writing Date, Candidate Naming Day, Voting Day, Register of Voters to be used and Logistics Preparations and election execution.

A special press conference is also scheduled to take place shortly after the end of the meeting to announce the results and important dates of the 13th PRU Sarawak to the public. - TVS
