KUCHING: Ruthless, aggressive and never giving China a way back in.

National top pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah powered into the Denmark Open women’s doubles final after dispatching Bao Li Jing and Cao Zi Han 21-16, 21-14 in just 37 minutes at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense on Saturday (Oct 17) today.

The second seeds kept the pressure on throughout, refusing to let the young Chinese pair settle as they closed out the semi-final in straight games.

The win ends Malaysia’s 18-year wait for a women’s doubles finalist at the Denmark Open, matching the country’s best result since Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui lifted the title in 2008.

Pearly-Thinaah will face Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi in Sunday’s final.

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are also in contention for a men’s double throne after they stunned world No. 1 pair Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae 21-14, 21-18.

Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing, however, bowed out in the mixed doubles semi-finals after a 13-21, 13-21 defeat to Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping.
