Nanta: PBB’s election preparations at advanced stage

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has reached an advanced stage in its preparations for the coming state election, says its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the party began its preparations well ahead of time.

“Our preparations are at a satisfactory stage. We did not wait until today’s meeting to start preparing, as we had already begun the groundwork earlier,” he told reporters after the PBB Supreme Council meeting at the party headquarters here on Wednesday (Oct 4).

Nanta said the meeting, chaired by PBB’s President and Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was attended by almost all Supreme Council members.

He said among the matters discussed was the party’s preparations for the coming state election.

Asked whether the preparations are already 100 per cent complete, Nanta said it was not yet at that stage but already at a very advanced level.

He noted that contesting in elections was not new to PBB, as the party had gone through the process numerous times.

Nanta said the next step would be to formally establish the party’s election committee, with Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas appointed as its chairman.

On whether PBB is targeting to retain the 47 seats it won in the previous state election, he said the matter was best addressed by the party president.
