KUCHING, 29 Oct: Sarawak's Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has not yet confirmed whether to defend the Dalat constituency in the 13th Sarawak State Assembly General Election (PRU DUN).

Instead, he asked the media to wait until the date of nomination to know further developments about his position in this election.

"We'll wait for her nomination day tomorrow", she said as she met with the South Asian International Women Assembly (SIWA) 2026 press conference at Wisma Women here today.

The Election Commission (ECC) is scheduled to hold a special meeting on November 6 to determine the important dates of PRU DUN Sarawak, including nomination day and voting day.

He said that this was announced at the meeting of the Supreme Leadership Council of the Sarawak Combined Party (GPS) which took place at the Headquarters of the United Party of Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) in Petra Jaya, yesterday.

"From then on, we'll know better. Wait a minute", he said when asked about his chances of re-election.

Fatimah has been the ADUN Dalat since 2001 and also holds the position of Head of the UN Women's Movement.

In February 2022, he once expressed a desire to make his then-deputy term as deputy representative final, after 21 years of service, in addition to wanting to give way to other leaders.

However, he has not confirmed whether the position will remain in place until the 13th Sarawak PRU DUN.

Yesterday, Sarawak's Prime Minister who is also the President of the United Nations, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, confirmed that some ministers from the party will resign ahead of the state elections, but did not disclose their identities.

The SPR will hold a special meeting on November 6 to discuss the important date of the 13th Sarawak PRN following the dissolution of DUN Sarawak which came into force on October 26.
