THE Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) will identify bottlenecks and improve processes affecting investment, trade, industry and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
In stating this, Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said efficient and predictable procedures were as important to investors as incentives and infrastructure.
He said businesses needed clear rules, timely decisions and practical ways to resolve implementation issues.
Citing a 2026 survey by the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), he said 62 per cent of respondents had experienced significant regulatory changes affecting their operations in Malaysia over the past two years.
“The survey also highlighted policy consistency and faster approvals as key priorities for improving the business environment.
“These findings reinforce the need for regulatory clarity and better inter-agency coordination,” he said in his winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today (Oct 21).
He added that InvestSarawak would strengthen its role as a one-stop centre to coordinate approvals, follow up on projects and resolve investor issues.
“We are also developing SelectSarawak as an integrated digital platform to improve transparency and coordination throughout the investor journey.
“It is intended to cover enquiries, project assessment, approvals, licensing, implementation monitoring and aftercare,” he added.
