SARATOK: A man with a history of crimes has been arrested in connection with the theft of a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle left at a bus stop at Simpang Krian last month.

The 34-year-old was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at an oil palm plantation in Awik on Monday (Oct 26).

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the motorcycle belonged to a 52-year-old labourer who had left it at the bus stop on Sept 29 after it broke down.

“When the owner returned the following day, he discovered that the motorcycle was missing and lodged a police report.

“Investigations found that the suspect had allegedly stolen the motorcycle with two other accomplices on Sept 30.

“The motorcycle was reportedly loaded into the boot of a Perodua Axia belonging to one of the accomplices and taken to a house in Nanga Atoi, Awik.”

The three men then stored the motorcycle in the kitchen before one of the accomplices gave each of the other two men RM50.

Police seized several motorcycle components, including a motorcycle frame, a black fuel tank, an exhaust pipe and a set of motorcycle covers, along with various tools.

DSP Mathew said the suspect’s urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Background checks found that he has five prior records, including convictions for drug-related offences and theft.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the accomplice alleged to have paid the others had been arrested earlier and is currently remanded at Sri Aman Prison in connection with a separate case involving criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
