MUKAH, Oct 27: A 53-year-old lorry driver was injured after an express bus collided with his three-tonne truck along Jalan Balingian-Kuala Balingian near Mukah yesterday (Oct 26).
The accident occurred at about 2.15pm when an express bus travelling from Mukah towards Bintulu allegedly tried to overtake a lorry in front of it, which was believed to be turning right.
According to a statement issued by Mukah District Police Chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, the bus driver could not avoid the lorry and crashed into its rear, causing the lorry to lose control and overturn at the roadside.
The truck driver complained of a headache and was referred to Bintulu Hospital for further treatment.

Initial investigations found that the accident occurred on a straight, two-way road with a flat and dry surface.
The express bus sustained damage to its front section, while the truck sustained damage to its rear and roof.
Investigators are examining the case under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
