12 vehicles seized in a special operation in Kuching

KUCHING, 21 Oct: Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 12 vehicles in Special Motorcycle Ops at Dato Haji Daud Abdul Rahman Road here today.

The operation was carried out by the JPJ Kuching Operations Unit to improve compliance of road users with applicable laws and regulations.

According to JPJ Sarawak, a total of 824 vehicles of various types were inspected in the operation.

"Among the offences detected were expired driver's licenses, not wearing seat belts, non-specific registration numbers and various vehicle technical errors.

"Of the total seized vehicles, 11 consisted of a motorcycle and 10 motorcycles for the offence of Motor Vehicle License (LKM) as well as expiration insurance coverage", the statement said.

Another motorcycle was confiscated because of extreme modifications that violate regulations.

JPJ Sarawak announced that enforcement action was implemented in accordance with the provisions of the law in force and similar operations will be continued continuously.

Road users are also advised to ensure driver's license, LKM and insurance coverage remain valid, as well as comply with registration number specifications and avoid illegal vehicle modifications for the safety of all parties.
