Proton X50 gets a sporty makeover

KUCHING: Black finishes and red accents give the Proton X50 a sportier look, with its newly launched Sport Edition priced at RM104,299 for buyers in Sarawak and Sabah.

The East Malaysia price is on the road without insurance, after the applicable October 2026 rebate, and includes the RM1,999 styling package fitted to the Flagship variant.

Launched today, the package introduces 15 exterior and interior enhancements valued by Proton at RM7,000.

Black alloy wheels, red accents and exclusive skirtings give the X50 Sport Edition a sportier look.

Proton’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ir Abdul Rashid Musa said customers could opt for a more distinctive appearance while retaining the Flagship’s performance, technology and safety features.

“By building on the flagship variant, we are giving customers an opportunity to enjoy a sportier and more distinctive Proton X50 while retaining its proven performance, advanced technology and safety features,” he said in a statement.

The exterior makeover features black trim and 18-inch alloy wheels, complemented by red accents, exclusive front, side and rear skirtings, and a Sport Edition emblem.

Inside, red stitching adds a splash of colour to the black cabin across the steering wheel, armrest, door trims and seats, with embroidered front seats, TPE floor mats and metal door scuff plates completing the changes.

Proton said the enhancements underwent more than 13,700 hours of testing covering durability, corrosion and ultraviolet resistance, as well as suitability for Malaysia’s tropical climate.

Available as a styling package for the Flagship, the Sport Edition retains its 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Red stitching and Sport Edition embroidery distinguish the front seats in the X50’s black cabin.

Equipment includes a 14.6-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside 15 advanced driver assistance features including Auto Park Assist, a 360-degree camera and tyre pressure monitoring.

The Sport Edition is available through authorised Proton dealerships nationwide, with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty, free labour for six services and five years of in-car data at 2GB monthly, subject to terms and conditions.
