KUCHING: The new campus of the Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service (LISCS) in Rampangi, Santubong, cost approximately RM200 million to build.
Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the institute was established to provide training for civil servants to improve their performance and capabilities.
“The institute cost approximately RM200 million and is equipped with various facilities. As we saw earlier, it has accommodation, lecture rooms, an auditorium and other facilities,” he said during the soft launch of the new campus today.
He said the institute, owned by the Sarawak Government through Yayasan Sarawak, received substantial funding from the Sarawak Government for its construction.
“With the establishment of this institute, we hope it will serve as a one-stop centre where civil servants can undergo appropriate training. We also aspire to make this institute a landmark for our civil service,” he said.
The soft launch was held to allow department heads to view the facilities available at the campus, which will be used for training and human resource development among civil servants.
The programme included prayers and blessings for the new campus, followed by a tree-planting ceremony to symbolise growth and sustainability.
The new campus will also serve as a hub for leadership competency development, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
Abu Bakar said the official launch would be held at a later date, with the date yet to be finalised.
“We will determine the official launch date later, God-willing. We will inform everyone once the date has been finalised,” he said.
