Jealousy allegedly sparks brawl at Kenyalang Park Market

KUCHING, Oct 20: A jealousy-fuelled dispute is believed to have led to a physical altercation between two men outside an eatery at Kenyalang Park Market here on Oct 18.

In a statement, Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report about the incident after a one-minute-and-13-second video of the fight went viral on social media.

“Investigations found that a verbal argument stemming from jealousy and dissatisfaction escalated into a physical altercation at about 4am.

“Both men, aged 24 and 27, sustained injuries before members of the public at the scene managed to break up the fight,” he said.

Police will investigate the case under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray in a public place.

At the same time, the public have been advised against taking matters into their own hands and urged to avoid arguments that could escalate into fights in public places.
