KUCHING: Padawan residents can access free health screenings and learn emergency response skills during a community health campaign at Kota Padawan Mall on October 24.
The campaign will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Kota Padawan Mall along Jalan Penrissen, aiming to encourage blood donation, promote health awareness, and encourage preventive healthcare among the local community.
“The initiative also supports MPP’s (Padawan Municipal Council) ongoing efforts to promote community well-being as a member of the World Health Organisation’s Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.
“In addition to blood donation, members of the public can benefit from free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and body mass index (BMI) checks,” said Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Stampin Branch in a statement today (Oct 19).
Additionally, a trained Red Crescent personnel will also demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to raise awareness of emergency response skills and the importance of being prepared to assist others during critical situations.
“As a token of appreciation, successful blood donors will receive goodie bags,” it said.
Meanwhile, members of the public can also participate in MPP’s Buy Back Campaign at the parking lot of Kota Padawan Mall from 8am to noon on the same day.
“Residents can bring their recyclable materials to support recycling efforts and contribute towards a cleaner and safer Padawan,” it said.
For the record, the campaign is organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Stampin Branch and Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP), in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), with Kota Padawan Mall as the venue sponsor.
