KUCHING, 19 Oct: Sarawak Science Centre has received about 200,000 visitors since its official launch on 29 July 2026, thus showcasing a welcome to the science learning facility.

According to the Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, besides public visits, the centre is also a planned learning destination when it receives visits from 67 schools and groups.

"The development reflects the role of Sarawak Science Centre in providing a space for science learning outside the classroom through an approach that can bring communities, especially students, closer together with science and technology", he said.

He said this in his cabinet resignation speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference today.

In an effort to expand the cooperation network, Sagah said Sarawak Science Centre also signed five strategic agreements with Singaoura Science Centre, Petrosains The Discovery Centre, Sarawak Metro, National STEM Association and Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation (SDEC).

The partnership, he said, involves strategic partners in science, STEM education, transport and the digital economy.

The center's international network was also expanded through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Science Museum of Thailand during the Asia Pacific Network of Science & Technology Centres (ASPAC) 2026 Conference in Bangkok last August.

"The cooperation opens up opportunities to expand the network of science communication partners at regional level, as well as allow exchanges of exhibitions and programs between institutions involved.

"The initiative is expected to support the development of more diverse science learning programmes, as well as strengthen Sarawak Science Centre's links with scientific institutions at local and international levels", he said. -TVS
