KUCHING, Oct 15: Sarawak graduate unemployment rate decreased by 27.3 percent for five years.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said that although the number of graduates was small there was an increase in the number of graduates produced by the university.

"In 2020 I mean the rate is 4.4 percent. But when we have a pandemic in 2021, the rate is still 4.4 percent. But after that, it dropped to 4 percent and then down to 3.5 percent and by 2024 the rate is 3.2 percent.

"But the increase in terms of the number of graduates produced by universities is also increasing. This means we actually managed to reduce unemployment among these graduates", he said.

He said this while answering a question from Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Lingga Dayang Noorazahh Awang Sohor at the Fourth Day Conference Second Meeting for the 19th DUN Sarawak Legislative Assembly, here today.

Meanwhile, on the market capitalization rate amongst each Sarawak government-owned university, Swinburne has a high rate of 98.9 percent, UTS 92.1 percent, Curtin Malaysia 85.4 percent and iCATS is 83.4 percent. - TVS
