KUCHING, 19 Oct: The Greater Kuching-Coastal-Samarahan Development Agency (GKCDA) has approved a total of 531 development projects since its establishment in September 2022, with 129 projects completed as of 30 September 2026.

Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister of Sarawak Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that out of the total, 402 projects are being implemented at various stages involving rural areas in Kuching and Serian Divisions.

"GKCDA was set up to accelerate development in 10 DUN districts in the rural areas of both parts, with an initial allocation of RM1.5 billion.

"The development reflects the scale of implementation of the development projects that the agency is moving to meet the needs of communities in its target areas", he said.

In his inaugural address to the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today, Sagah also appreciated the departments and executive agencies for their continued commitment in achieving rural community development.

The implementation of the projects is expected to continue as part of efforts to improve facilities and development in rural Kuching and Serian. -TVS
