KUCHING, 14 Oct: A total of 1,706 land ownership letters were issued and handed over to the landowners in the area of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on Mount Semuja as of September 30 last year.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Sarawak Land and Environment Administration, Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that the total included 1,255 land ownership titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code through the New Bumiputera Traditional Rights (NCR) Initiative's land measurement program and 451 land ownership titles under the traditional village measurement program.
According to him, out of the 1,255 patents issued through the New NCR Initiative Land Measurement Program, 312 of them involve two areas documented by the National Dayak Bidayuh Association (DBNA).
"The area covers 528 hectares or 1,305 acres", he said.
He said this in response to a question by Member of the National Assembly (MLA) from Mount Semuja, John Ilus, at the 19th Sarawak DUN Congress today.
John asked for clarification on the total area or village, number of lots and land area under DBNA documentation initiative in the Semuja Hills area which has been prepared and ready to be granted a deed of title.
Meanwhile, Len explained, in total, three areas under the second phase of the New NCR Initiative Land Measurement Program were issued with 1,255 land title letters covering an area of 741 hectares or 1,831 acres.
In fact, according to him, through the Traditional Village Measurement Program, as many as three villages covering an area of 21 hectares or 52 acres have received 451 land title letters.
In addition, the Government of Sarawak appreciated DBNA's commitment and initiatives in helping to speed up the NCR land measurement process under Section 6 and Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.
"However, DBNA's documentation results have to go through a verification and validation process by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department before publication as well as issuance of ownership documents can be confirmed", he said.
In response to ADUN Tebebu's question, Dr Simon Sinang Bada, Len said that as of September 30 this year, the Department of Land and Surveys has approved 16 areas declared under section 6 of Sarawak Land Code in DUN Tebedu for individual lot measurement under New Initiative NCR Land Measurement Program.
"Of that total, 13 areas have been documented by the DBNA. The area of the 13 areas is approximately 32,733 hectares or 80,884 acres and all are currently in the process of individual lot measurement where an area of 5,603 hectares or 13,845 acres has been completed to include a total of 5,775 lots", he explained.
