IMPROVING night-time visibility along the coastal road involves more than street lighting, with the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak also installing blinkers, road studs, road signs and road markings.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said JKR Sarawak had identified locations requiring solar LED streetlights, particularly at sharp bends, intersections, bridges and villages.
“JKR Sarawak has identified locations that require the installation of solar LED streetlights,” he said.
Aidel was responding to Datuk Mohd Chee Kadir (GPS-Kabong) during question and answer session on Thursday (Oct 15).
He said additional safety measures were being implemented along the road to improve conditions for motorists.
“Besides installing solar LED streetlights, JKR Sarawak is taking strategic measures such as installing blinkers, road studs, road signs and road markings along the road,” he said.
He added that these measures were intended to ensure road users’ comfort and safety.
